Butterfly Weed (Asclepias Tuberosa)
This is a great plant to add color to borders or perennial gardens. These compact 2’ plants produce orange flower clusters from June through September and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other insects. Butterfly Weed likes full sun and moist soils, eventually growing a large taproot that enables it to tolerate dry conditions. These natives can be found in the southeastern corner of the state in dry prairies and woodland edges and openings.
